The Opportunity:

The Banff Centre is currently seeking a Vice President, Business Development (VPBD) to be responsible for the leadership, organization, and performance of the Centre?s Business Development units:

? Leadership Development pioneers new ways of looking at leadership and new methodologies for leading in a complex world. Programs emphasize experiential, arts- and nature-based learning for leaders in the corporate, government, Aboriginal, and not-for-profit sectors, and applied research in leadership best practices.
? Conferences provides delegates from Alberta, Canada, and around the world with exceptional meeting facilities in an environment that fosters inspirational learning.
? Hospitality provides food and beverage, rooms, and housekeeping/custodial services to The Banff Centre?s customers, clients, artists, faculty, staff and guests.
? Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation offers a wide range of recreational opportunities and fitness services for people of all abilities and interests. Programs and services contribute to the social, emotional, and physical well-being of the Centre?s community.

Key Responsibilities:

? Lead the creation of, and assemble the requisite resource structure to support the implementation of the vision for Business Development
? Develop and effectively integrate the long-range plans and strategies of the Business Development units within the broader context of The Banff Centre
? Promote the continuing development of an organizational climate which encourages creativity, innovation, and risk taking, which rewards individuals for productivity and quality improvements, focuses on the achievement of the goals of the Centre and constantly reinforces the unique culture of The Banff Centre
? Develop and maintain service levels in all areas of responsibility which effectively meet the needs of the Centre and its clients, improve its core competencies and enhance its competitive advantages in its major areas of interest and activity
? Assume responsibility for Business Development?s financial resources, including annual budget preparation; establishing priorities and allocating budgets to each office and section; guide the planning of the capital budget to ensure priorities are set with a long range focus in mind
? Monitor, evaluate and evolve the mission to ensure the continuing relevance of the Business Development programming and services by initiating and guiding program and service reviews in order to keep Business Development activities on the leading edge, aware of needs of the community and the expectations of the economic, political and social environments
? Seek and implement revenue generating initiatives that are in harmony with The Banff Centre?s business activities.

The Ideal Candidate:

? Possesses an MBA or a Degree in Business combined with significant years of successful experience

? Strong interpersonal skills to be comfortable in a multi-stakeholder environment and possesses cross cultural awareness and knowledge to work effectively in a diverse workplace and across diverse communities
? A collaborative and cooperative relationship-building style backed by sound judgment and integrity, and advanced conceptual and analytical skills
? Ability to manage, monitor and deliver on several projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize

Employment Terms & Benefits

? Appointment will be subject to a 12 month probationary period
