Oddi named Communications Manager for Houston Marathon Committee

Wolters announced as Venue Operations Manager ? ?

HOUSTON (September 11, 2012) - Houston Marathon Committee (HMC) Executive Director Wade Morehead announced on Tuesday the additions of Vicky Oddi as Communications Manager and Kristin Wolters as Venue Operations Manager to the HMC staff.

"We are excited about the additions of Vicky Oddi and Kristin Wolters to our team," said Morehead. "They each have experience in the running and sports industries that will be valuable to our organization as it continues to innovate and grow."

As Communications Manager, Oddi will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all communications and press operations, including social media, publications and race day media operations. She began her duties with the organization on September 4.

A Philadelphia-area native, Oddi comes to Houston from NBC Universal where she was a Web Producer for NBCOlympics.com and UniversalSports.com, responsible for the track and field editorial content on each of those sites. Prior to that, she was the Communications Coordinator for USA Track & Field, where she oversaw communications efforts for USATF's Junior and Youth programs and worked as a press officer at multiple international championships including the 2008 Olympic Games. Oddi received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Coastal Carolina University where she participated on the track and field team and earned a Master's Degree in Sport and Recreation Administration from Temple University.

Also joining the Houston Marathon Committee is Kristin Wolters, who began her duties as the Venue Operations Manager in August. Wolters had previously been the Marathon Manager for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program with the North Texas Chapter (Dallas) and Texas Gulf Coast Chapter (Houston). While there, she recruited and managed volunteers, coordinated group travel to marathons around the country and served as on-site liaison for the fundraising participants running marathons, while also managing group fundraisers for the chapter in the Houston area. Wolters has a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin.
